THE CUSTOMER
Founded in 1911, Katholische Jugendfürsorge der Diözese Augsburg e. V. (KJF Augsburg) is one of the largest providers of health, social and educational services in Bavaria, Germany. In more than 80 facilities and services, the social enterprise’s approximately 4,800 employees care for and support around 150,000 children, young people and families every year.
THE OBJECTIVE
The more than 80 facilities and services of the KJF Augsburg are maintained via a central administration. An integrated SAP S/4HANA landscape was set up for this central administration. In addition, employees in central IT were trained to take on their own tasks within the framework of system administration and to independently ensure SAP system operation
THE PROJECT
At the beginning of the SAP S/4HANA implementation project, a hardware infrastructure extension was planned together with the KJF Augsburg for the already existing computer centre. After the installation and initial configuration, the SAP implementation project was accompanied by a continuous expansion of customising. In the process, the additional requirements for Basis operations that emerged in the course of the introduction were implemented
Parallel to the SAP S/4HANA implementation project, we trained the IT team on site at the Augsburg headquarters in fundamental SAP topics and one employee in more depth. Together we have been operating the SAP landscape since the transfer to system operation. This way, requirements and, if necessary, malfunctions can be quickly implemented on site. For all other tasks, we have been available to the KJF Augsburg as a partner from the very beginning. Our tasks range from ensuring system operation through performance checks, internal audits, IT security and major and minor system maintenance to monitoring and on-site holiday replacement.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
With the introduction of SAP S/4HANA, the KJF Augsburg has received its first central and integrated ERP system. Previously, various isolated applications were in use. These were gradually replaced. The end users also had no previous SAP experience. Together with another implementation partner, the necessary knowledge was built up in the course of the project implementation.
The many facilities of the KJF Augsburg are supplied with IT services via a common administration and are connected to an internal network. In addition, they are also organised and localised in a decentralised manner. As a result, individual requirements sometimes emerge. Furthermore, IT issues are also handled by staff members in addition to their actual main tasks.
During implementation, we took the requirements of different groups of employees and the usability of the SAP systems into account accordingly. The employees of the central IT department take on the key user role alongside other users. This makes it possible to efficiently deal with the concerns of users in regular remote operation
